What they are looking for
Crime Aware is a FREE to use crime reporting and notification tool. People use the website to report ANY crimes and incidents in their neighbourhood in order to let others know what is happening. They can also be instantly notified of any crime being committed around them. The better the sense you have of the crime being committed near you, the more you can do to prevent it happening to you and your neighbours. Knowledge is power and forewared is forearmed. Crime Aware is very easy to use and is a map based system that allows you to graphically view the incidents of crime in your neighbourhood. Report any type of crime from minor to serious. Even report a dog poisoning or attempted burglary, as the more you report, the more those around you can be aware of what is happening in the neighbourhood. Some crimes do not get reported to the police as we feel they are too minor, but if we track each and every incident, we can start to see a pattern and form an detailed image of the crimes in an particular area. Years ago, we would lean of the wall and talk to our neighbour on the weekend, nowadays neighbours seldom talk and share information. Crime Aware hopes to change that and provide an easy way to share crime information and assist in preventing crime. In our branded car, we would like something that shows community and respect. It's about awareness, so I guess its like a patrol car. But, we are not looking for a police car design, but rather something that depicts technology and awareness. We use Google maps to map crime incidents and they get a pin tagged on the map where the incident occurred. So it's very graphical.
What they are DONT want! (AVOID DOING THIS)
Crime is not pretty or fluffy, it's horrible. We don't want a design that depicts crime, we want a design that shows crime counteraction.
